Instead of using QR codes to promote the release of Inception on DVD, Warner Brothers is using a new technology called SnapTags that even works with Dumb Phones (via SMS). By scanning the tags in different places, users will be sent exclusive content associated with the launch.

From Mashable:

“As a marketing campaign, this is pretty intriguing in that every aspect of the marketing — including the DVD packaging, TV commercials and Facebook Page — all contain these SnapTags. The campaign also ties in nicely with the dream and puzzle nature of Inception.”
