Weezer is blurring  the lines between product placement, sponsorship and cross promotion. Their new album “Hurley” was inspired (read: bought) by the clothing company and the cover features Lost’s Jorge Garcia (get it).
As part of the sponsorship or cross promotion or whatever you call it, they made some Weezer inspired limited edition Hurley gear, which you can now buy on PacSun. All of the pieces look very Weezer-esque and come in shades of green, grey, and white.
I may be reading into it, but based on the lyrics in their new song Trainwrecks and this uninspired reading of a t-shirt contest, I’m not so sure that they are happy with the corporate influence. Merchandising aside, they’re still one of my favourite bands and I’m really looking forward to this disk.
The full album is now playable in it’s entirety on MySpace and you can pre-order it on iTunes ($11.99). The album drops on Sept 13th.
