YouTube Awesomeness: Tipp-Ex Takeover
The Tipp-Ex takeover of YouTube is part Old Spice stunt, part Wario Land takeover, part Subservient Chicken and all awesome. The experience was created by Parisian agency Buzzman.
After the initial “A hunter shoots a bear” video plays, the hunter erases the word “shoots” (with Tipp-Ex) and lets you type in anything that you want. I tried a few myself (hugs, watches tv with, high fives, washes, shoots, moonwalks with, etc.) and they all had unique videos.
It looks like there is around 39 of them in total. “Erases” was one of the best and the weirdest (and somewhat inappropriate) one was “drinks with.”
The campaign launched on August 25th and as of today (Sept 9) the embeddable video has some impressive stats: over 5 million views, 188,944 Facebook shares, 13,065 tweets and over 655 blog posts. I’ll bet that the page itself received far more visits and an impressive average time on page, although there aren’t any official stats yet.
Also, FYI - I didn’t know this, but Tipp-Ex is the “Wite Out” of Europe.
